Stroller

So the one thing I care about (IDK why either) is a stroller and car seat.  We went to try them out a few weeks ago and I just don't feel partical to one.  I think I like chicco or Britax only because I have read the most good reviews.  Target has chicco for 299 normal price.  This weekend, kohls is have a 20% sale. Kohls doesn't sell Chicco, but the Britax is 336.   Do you have a preference?  The Britax to me seems like a good deal.  It is black. Do you think that it gets too hot?

normally 336
20% off-267
3% ebates drops it to 261
Kohls is doing $10 for every $50 you spend, so giving me another $50 in Kohls cash.

Bringing it down to $210.

Thoughts? Is there a different kind I should consider? Should I wait?  It isn't like I need it right now.  The whole concept if overwhelming. again...Why? IDK!

Re: Stroller

  • We ended up getting a Baby Jogger City Select. Our original plan was to get the Baby Jogger City Mini GT, it was lightweight and ridiculously easy to fold up (could be done one handed while holding baby). Buy Buy Baby had a City Select on clearance and you were able to use anumerous ff coupon so it ended up being the same price as the GT. We never even considered the City Select because it was way out of our price range (just shy of 500).

The major selling point for us on the City Select was the fact that we could just buy the adapter and an extra seat to make it a double stroller. It has an incredibly smooth ride and you can face the seat forward or backwards and has several recline options. There are also numerous seat configurations for when it is a double stroller. we purchased the car seat adapter for when we used the infant seat, i loved that option!

Almost 2 years in and the stroller works just as great as it did on day one!

I never really explored any other stroller brands aside from Baby Jogger, they were the highly recommended brand in the book I used for my registry.

For me the biggest thing was weight and ease of folding. I wanted something quick and easy just in case I was felling stressed/rushed by a crying baby. I also wanted something that wouldn't kill my back.

It's so overwhelming because there are so many options out there! If you have a Buy Buy Baby in the area I highly recommend taking a trip. I've always had great help when going there and you can test drive all the strollers..... you can also laugh at the insanely priced strollers too!

  • PS. I am a huge fan of our Chicco Key Fit infant car seat. We also have the Chicco Nextfit convertible seat, pricey but worth every single penny. Nice and cushioney and a breeze to install! Also has a rear facing weight limit of 40lbs (you can easily reach 2 plus years of age for rear facing) and forward facing weight limit of 65lbs. We shouldn't have to buy another swat for quite some time.

  • We've got the Chicco Cortina Travel System.  Comes with the Chicco Keyfit seat.  We love being able to put Ryan in the car seat in the house and then carrying it out to the car and setting it into the base.  Stroller folds up real easy as well.

The only thing I don't like about it is when I started looking for the next stage car seat.  The one we have already is rear facing.  The NextFit is convertible, but starts at rear facing and goes to front facing with harness.  After that you have to get another seat for front facing without harness/booster stage.  Just kinda feel like I'm buying something I already have to some degree.  Beyond that, love their products though.

  • So I didn't go too crazy on mine.  My main concerns at the time were cost and safety.  So based on what we could afford, what was the safest.  We ended up with a Graco stroller and infant seat set.  I've loved both.  I'll have to look up the model.  We went with a lighter colored fabric so they wouldn't get too hot.

Now that I've used them, I will say I wish I had spent more money and gotten a different stroller.  I never even considered needing a double stroller for when we had kid #2.  So now we'll have to buy another one. And hopefully we can get one that out infant seat can snap onto.  Just something I wish I would have thought about.  It sounds like Am did.

  • I had read some things on graco online that I wasn't a fan off.  The city select is nice Am, but way out of my price range.
  • Totally understand, the only way we were able to get it was because we happened to stumble upon it being a clearance item.

Just know that no matter what you choose you are going to choose a stroller that is safe. :) Also consider what terrain you plan on using it on. Will you always stick to streets and sidewalks? We sometimes go walking in the dirt so it is nice to have a stroller with some sturdy wheels that wont pop.

  • So many decisions!
  • I wish I could find the name of that book I used with Caden! I was seriously so overwhelmed and had no clue where to start with everything. I didn't even want to do a baby registry because I didn't want to have to face it all. LOL

  • Baby bargins?
  • I've had graco with all of mine. I am not a runner so I don't do the jogging strollers and the price of some others are crazy expensive
  • I think that was it Jen!

  • Have you looked into the Combi brand? We are have their convertible car seat and a lightweight stroller that we love. They make infant car seats too.

  • Thanks everyone. I feel like this shouldn't be so hard but it is.  J is still liking the Graco modes because he likes that you can take the seat off when they are a baby.  I just read bad reviews about the Graco being 50/50 love hate.  I think the car seat is what is stressing me out.
  • I would say the vast majority of strollers can be adapted to fit a vast majority of infant car seats. Join the FB group Car Seats for Littles. They have a ton of resources to help you find the perfect seat and keep it within your budget.

  • We had graco as well. It was so nice to be able to take the car seat out when Abby was little. We still us the stroller that goes with the car seat and will be able to use it for a while yet.
